Floor with Nozzles

Euroslot Kdss nozzles can filter a liquid or gas and retain a filtering medium (sand, catalyst, resin, zeolite, activated carbon, etc). The principle consists of distributing nozzles over a vessel floor so as to control the flow during collection or distribution.

Nozzles provide an excellent economic compromise in combining the benefits of a completely welded structure to withstand very high stress, provide an anti-clogging surface and excellent corrosion resistance.

Applications

Numerous processes utilise floors with nozzles:

  • Water de-mineralisation
  • Sand filters
  • Charcoal filters

Collectors and Distributors

The system of collection and distribution is composed of a central tube, or alternatively a hub, equipped with several laterals to ensure perfect distribution of flow. This is achieved by conforming to the shape of the bottom of the vessel.

The following distribution and collection systems are used in numerous processes including water treatment, sweetened juice and the petrochemical industry:

  • Adsorption by activated carbon
  • Sand filters
  • De-mineralisation – Softeners – Ion exchange resins
  • MTBE processes

Support Grids

The support grid is a self-supporting filtration structure that retains the reactive media.

The Euroslot Kdss wedge wire welded support offers a number of benefits:

  • A non clogging surface
  • Self supporting
  • Accurate separation
  • High open area

Our support grids are manufactured to meet international standards and can resist high pressures, temperatures and stresses.

Applications

Support grids are mainly used for:

  • Catalytic reaction
  • Molecular sieve bed support
  • Ion exchange
  • Isomer separation
  • Sand filters
  • Malting floors
  • False bottoms

Design

Each component is designed to resist temperature and pressure and may include additional beams.

Arrangements

A support grid may be constructed from parallel or pie shaped segments, each element just resting on the beams or bolted to or welded to its neighbour. The joining bars may be flush or project above the screening surface.

Beams

The design of the reinforcing supports and beams is completed after analysis of technical and economic considerations.

Fixing Devices

The support grids can be attached to the structure by bolts, fixed to the grid or part of the vessel itself.

Resin Traps

Resin traps are located in-line and downstream of either ion exchange units or activated carbon units. They are composed of a welded wire filtration element and housing.

The flow is generally from the outside to the inside.

The retained particles remain within the housing, thus securing the system.

Increased pressure within the housing, or the provision of a sight glass, indicates whether particles are present or not.

Advantages

  • Welded wire is an anti-clogging surface.
  • Welded wire is a freestanding surface that can withstand extreme conditions of temperature and pressure.
  • High-tolerance fine filtration as low as 50µm.
  • Simple and effective application (installed between flanges) directly in-line.

Materials

Stainless steel 304, 316L, UB6, Duplex and Super Duplex, Monel, Hastelloy and Titanium SB, selected to withstand the most extreme corrosive conditions.
